Privacy
Plain-language details of what personal information I collect through this website and my client work, why I collect it, and how you can access or correct it. Last updated 22 October 2026.
This website is operated by Jarrod Smith (ABN 15 383 716 138), a web and software developer based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In this policy, "I" and "me" mean Jarrod Smith. You can reach me at [email protected].
I handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and I follow them as good practice whether or not the law strictly requires it for a business of my size.
When you send an enquiry. The contact form collects your name, email address, and anything you choose to add: business name, phone number, project type, budget range, timeline, an existing website address, and your message. If you email me directly, I keep that correspondence.
When we work together. I collect the details needed to deliver and invoice the work, such as your contact and billing details, project content, and access to accounts and systems you give me. I do not collect or store payment card details myself.
When you visit this site. My web server keeps standard logs, including your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time. I use them to keep the site running and secure. This site does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or third-party analytics. The theme toggle (light or dark) saves your choice in your own browser, and it is not sent to me.
I do not sell your personal information or use it for advertising.
I only share information with the services I use to run my business and only as needed:
Some of these providers store information outside Australia, including in the United States and Switzerland. When I choose providers, I look for reasonable security and privacy practices, but I cannot control how an overseas provider handles information once it holds it.
If I work on a website or application that collects information from your customers or users, I handle it only to deliver the work, under our written agreement. You, as the owner of that site or application, are responsible for your own privacy policy and for having any consents you need.
I take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), strong passwords, two-factor authentication where available, and limiting access to what is needed. No system is completely secure. If a breach is likely to cause you serious harm, I will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it (unless I need to keep it by law). Email me and I will reply within 30 days. I may need to confirm your identity before I share or change anything.
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, email me with the details and I will respond promptly. If you are not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
This site links to other sites, such as LinkedIn and GitHub. They have their own privacy policies, and I am not responsible for them. This website is not directed at children under 18, and I do not knowingly collect their personal information.
I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and the latest version is always on this page.
